What Companies are Saying:

To whom it may concern,

Charlie was asked to come into our company to carry out risk assessments on our machinery inside and outside the factory.

Charlie risk assessed the following:
4 press vats
2 Infeed conveyors
1 Grading table
1 Bin tipper

Through the process we found Charlie to be honest and reliable and unquestionably very attentive for the safety of a worker interacting with machinery.

His reports are thorough and easy to understand and his time frames for us to action and resolve his findings are realistic and easily met.

“He absolutely does not bend and calls it for what it is”

Charlie did advise us of a specific section on one of our machines that he will not assess and is not trained well enough and recommended to engage further expertise to conclude the risk assessment.

We did contract out this section on his recommendations and the outcome of this specific section on the machine has worked favourable with a safer defence system with more capabilities and enhanced production.

We called Charlie back to inspect an issue we had with one of our vats that created a mess, he analysed the process, asked a lot of questions from myself and the operators, took a lot of photos along with measurements, assessed comparisons between the vats and still phoned me with more questions.

We received his report, it was stepped out methodically and his conclusion was simple - Reverse Engineer It – and we did, the machine was down for a few days for us to carry out the recommendations and we haven’t had a mess for 2 years.

We have no hesitation recommending Charlie, the above clearly states his attention to detail, dedication and most of all safety and welfare of people.

To Whom It May Concern,

EIT engaged Charlie Strickland of Hazard Management Systems Ltd in two ways. The first to initiate our Institute wide Machine Safety Audit project in 2020 and upskill internal auditors. The second, to deliver a Machine Safety Workshop to staff in 2021.

Machine Safety Audit Project

Charlie completed the first three workshop audits at both our Hawkes Bay and Tairawhiti Campus across two full days. Each workshop had 10 – 15 machines performing a range of tasks within Engineering, Carpentry and Art & Design. During these Audits, we were very impressed with Charlie’s depth of knowledge on machine safety, discussion on possible solutions, and a willingness to share lessons learnt.

Workshop staff were involved in these initial audits, with the view to them becoming the internal auditors for the remaining 20 workshops across EIT. We were able to complete this project and check in with Charlie where we identified concerns. We were very grateful to be able to seek further advice from Charlie when needed and had confidence in the output of the project.

Machine Safety Workshop

As part of a Risk Management series of staff training, we invited Charlie back to deliver a 1-hour Machine Safety Workshop. Many of the staff who attended were involved in the Machine Audit Project. The workshop provided a more technical summary of machine safety concepts and an opportunity for questions and answers.

Charlie was great to work with and would not hesitate in engaging his services again or recommending to another organisation where machine safety advice is needed. Happy to be contact by email for further information.

Yours sincerely

We asked Charlie to specifically target one of our machines for a full risk assessment, Charlie scrutinized this machine and presented a full body report specifying all the risk’s and how to remedy the findings, there are current controls on our machine that Charlie brought to our attention by saying these are non-compliant and do not meet legislative standards and then he immediately verbalized the actual standard section number and subsection numbers and this was verified later in the day when he emailed me the actual legislation page outlining the requirements.

Charlie’s reports are very clear and easy to use and time frames to carry out the remedials are realistic.

For a risk assessment on machinery and thoroughness Charlie is definitely recommendable as he is diligent and has strong principles and values towards safety and protection of staff

We later called Charlie back in to help us develop a train derailment emergency plan along with a post critical action plan, he amazed us with all possible scenarios in regards to outcomes and impact of a train colliding with our building along with forecasting ongoing disruption to the business.

He identified a comprehensive risk list from explosions, chemical and environmental impact to glass shards projectiles, building and plant and service lines damages, fractures and to atmospheric displacement and the list goes on, he applied the mitigating controls with response plans for staff and emergency services.

Charlie is very easy to talk to and a pleasure to deal with he asks a lot of questions that are specific to the assignment and he definitely deep dives for details.

We will still use Charlie when needed as the above information reveals his integrity and standards.

One of Charlie's key responsibilities was to conduct a full risk assessment on all of our machinery as these are both unique and complex and require expert knowledge and Charlie clearly knows how to implement controls by Identifying the risk’s and using a prioritising grading system that allows us to budget and spend appropriately and cost-effectively that does not compromise safety or jeopardize our staff and operational demands.

Charlie’s standard is high and he explains his findings clearly and his solutions are workable, Charlie does not compromise what is required and his services and reports clearly reflects these.

Charlie impressed us with how they audited and conducted a full risk assessment on all our machinery and tools and providing us with the inherent risk calculation, recommended controls and residual controls, they generated finding reports followed by a completed and well-presented safety system.

Charlie was easy to work with, has good knowledge of requirements for machinery and is very approachable for clarification of terms and processes. With one of our machines he offered several options and worked with us and Work Safe NZ for a practical and safe outcome.

Charlie came to my workshop and audited all practices and machinery and produced a clear, user friendly and comprehensive risk assessment report along with a
set of Health and Safety manuals and policies relevant to my workplace.

Charlie’s support provided is excellent, the risk assessments and action plans are detailed and specific to the nature of our organization. The policies produced on our behalf have been localized for us along with detailed risk assessment on all our machinery and noise assessments
